Dakota Access and Keystone XL oil pipelines

On January 24, 2017, President Donald Trump signed executive orders to revive Dakota Access and Keystone XL oil pipelines. This project is poised to reduce the present dependence of the United States on foreign oil and improve the economy. While, the building of the pipeline is sure expected to increase job opportunities in the region; the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, tenants in the immediate locale and environmental activists tell otherwise.

The opposition is concerned among many other things of the contamination such a pipeline would cause should there be a leak. Further, this would pollute and destroy the Native American land and burial sites. Environmentalists, residents and indigenous tribes also said that the pipeline might pass across the Ogallala Aquifer, the world’s largest. There is a distinct possibility that the numerous aquifers in the region be mortally affected should there be a crude leak after installation. Citing this issue and many other concerns, the indigenous people, environmentalists and other opposing individuals have filed a case with the District of Columbia. This new project and the past eight pipelines across the Missouri can be made more environmentally friendly should there be a water treatment technology to help rejuvenate the groundwater aquifers. Should there be a leak in the future, we at Dynamic Water Technologies have a non-chemical water treatment process that has been tested in various water conditions.

Introducing the Powell Electrocoagulation System (EC) that has been field tested to remove 93 - 99 % of hydrocarbons, at flow rates up to 2,500 gallons per minute. The Powell EC technology has been tested for the past 25 years and can be used to remove crude oil from any water source using the century-old concept of coagulation in a modern optimized system design. The process generates bubbles of air that rise through the system carrying with it dissolved salts, oils, and microorganisms. The system aims to remove contaminants at high flow rates with minimal downtime and low operating costs. The waste which would be generated from the operation of this system in such leaks would be rich in crude oil and may be used as raw materials in fuel applications.

Please contact us should you have more questions on the process and how it can be employed for your system. We guarantee that we can design a system to meet any requirement.
